{"id":106696,"date":"2021-10-11T10:55:53","date_gmt":"2021-10-11T10:55:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.snapwhole.com\/index.php\/2021-obituary\/"},"modified":"2023-01-17T01:05:10","modified_gmt":"2023-01-17T01:05:10","slug":"deloris-jean-johnson-1935-2021-obituary","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.snapwhole.com\/index.php\/deloris-jean-johnson-1935-2021-obituary\/","title":{"rendered":"Deloris Jean Johnson 1935-2021 Obituary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color\">Deloris Jean Johnson 1935-2021 Obituary<\/p>\n\n\n\n<center><a style=\"color:Tomato; \" href=\"https:\/\/www.snapwhole.com\/index.php\/randolph-county-west-virginia-area-obituaries\/\">Return to Randolph County Area Obituaries Home Page<\/a><\/center><br><br>\n\n\n\n<p>Deloris Jean Scott Johnson, age 85 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life early Saturday morning, April 10, 2021 at the West Virginia Caring Hospice Center at Elkins, WV surrounded by her loving family.<br>She was born Sunday, August 11, 1935 at Elkins, WV a daughter of the late Robert George and Nellie May Woods Scott. On December 25, 1954 at Montrose, WV she was married to Clifford Jennings Johnson, who preceded her in death September 11, 1982. Surviving are two sons, Bradley S. Johnson and wife Jennifer of Elkins, Douglas K. Johnson and wife Paulette of Humboldt, TN; one brother, Donald Ray Scott of Junior; one sister, Patricia Ann O\u2019Brien and husband Robert of Columbus, OH; and three grandchildren, Kendra Shanelle Johnson, Connor Patrick Johnson and Mia Isabella Johnson.<br>Preceding her in death are one son, Kurt Vahn Johnson; three brothers, Robert J. Scott, Albert George \u201cSonny\u201d Scott and Roger Dale \u201cBud\u201d Scott; and three sisters, Bonnie Lea Race, Anita Gail Martin, and Edith Marco and her very special friend, Elwood \u201cFergie\u201d Ferguson.<br>Deloris was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1954. She had worked at Riedboard Brothers as a seamstress, and later moved to Hancock, MD where she was a seamstress for London Fog. In the mid 1970\u2019s she returned to Elkins, where she worked at the J &amp; H Market at Montrose, where she was instrumental in starting and operating the Greenhouse. She retired from the Randolph County Board of Education as a Cook with 30 years of service, and since retirement, had volunteered for Good Shepherd Ministries. She was a member of the Goff Street Church of Christ.<br>On Friday nights at the Hitching Post at Norton, Deloris and \u201cFergie\u201d put on a family friendly music show called \u201cThe Midnight Rodeo\u201d. She was a wonderful cook, was an avid gardener, was very giving and nurturing, and loved her family.<br>The family will receive friends at the Lohr &amp; Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 7 PM, Monday, April 19, 2021. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 11 AM. The Rev. Albert Brown will officiate and interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins, WV.
