The Tube Transoceanics were a popular radio from WWII up to the 1960s, when they were switched over to transistors instead of tubes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have posted all the manuals and schematics I could find for each model – I have several of these radio, several 8G005, several G500, several H500, and several 600 series, so I posted all the reference data here as much to keep in one location for me as to make it available for everyone else<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have created searchable PDF Parts Lists for most of the models, and posted them to the web page, but formatting is a little off, the effort continues<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watch for future postings for restoration logs for all of these models<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7G605 is not a true Transoceanic, and was called the clipper, but its considered the first Transoceanic, having all the features and missing only the name<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 8G005 was the first true Transoceanic, and used Loctal tubes, and can be easily distingused from the other of the line by slightly bulging ends and a fixed handle<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The G500 was basically a 8G005 with mini-tubes, the easiest way to tell it from a 8G005 was the Zenith Royalty emblem on the case inside cover, and was actually on the wave magnet – No bulging sides, and a collapable handle are other ways to tell the G500 apart from the 8G005<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The H500 turned out to be the most popular model, having an expanded dial and used using the same basic design as the G500, and maintained the circular tuning dial as the 2 previous models<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The B600 model was the last portable tube radio in the US, and overlapped the transistor models by several years – the B600 is one of the most popular models of the Transoceanic, there is a preception its the best model, and it might be the best model, but all the models are great, and the 600 series have only minor differences across the models<\/p>\n\n\n\n
