Myrtle Mae Sites Carr<\/strong>, 76, a resident of Norton, and formerly from Whitmer, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, in Davis Memorial Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She had been in failing health for the past three years and death was attributed to heart failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was born, at Norton, on Oct 31, 1933, to the late Fred L. and Margaret Bennett Bodkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Nov. 23, 1953, in Elkins, she was married to Elwood Sites, who preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1972.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She later married Richard Carr, who also preceded her in death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is survived by one daughter, Winifred Lambert and husband, David, of Wymer, with whom she had resided for the past five months; and one son, Elwood N. “Woodie” Sites II of Elkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also surviving are one grandson, Brandon Lambert of Wymer; two granddaughters, Christina Mullennex of Wymer adn Celeste Mullennex and husband, James, of Harman; one great-granddaughter, Chelsea Lambert of Wymer; one brother, Isaac Bodkins and wife, Carolyn, and sister-in-law, Kathryn Bodkins all of Norton; and brothers-in-law, Bruce Sites and wife, Rosalee, of Kingsport, Tenn., and Paul Sites and wife, Peggy, of Tonopah, Ariz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Bodkins, and one brother, Richard N. Bodkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Myrtle was a 1950 graduate of Coalton High Scool and then worked for G.C. Murphy and Runner Funeral Home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After marrying Elwood, she moved to Whitmer where she was a clerk for Sites Supply Co. and was also a post office clerk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She had also worked for Family Health Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1971, she, along with her husband, Elwood, purchsed the Sites Supply Co., and she was appointed postmaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was the leader of the Whitmer Mountaineer 4-H Club for many years where she assisted her members in gathering leaves and flowers for their blue ribbon projects as well as coaching them in cooking and other projects and was a member of the Whitmer United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was involved in many activities of the church for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While a resident of Whitmer, she was a member of the ladies auxillary to the Whitmer Volunteer Fire Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was a former employee of Davis Memorial Hospital and Mullenax Personal Care Home and Valentine’s Personal Care Home in Elkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was an avid crafter and enjoyed her flower gardens and watching the deer, chickens, turkeys and fish at her daughter’s home in Wymer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She loved her pets, Cinnamon and Spunky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The family would like to express sincere thanks to all family members, friends and neighbors for their assistance, love and concern during their mother’s illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, with the Rev. Stella Faye Moyer officiating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery<\/strong> at Whitmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial conrtibutions be made to Whitmer United Methodist Church, Pam White, Treasurer, P.O. Box 227, Whitmer, W.Va. 26296, to Whitmer Volunteer Fire Department, in care of Clarence Turner, HC 65 Box 475, Harman, W.Va. 26270 or to Hospice Care Corp., P.O. Box 760, Arthurdale, W.Va. 26520<\/p>\n\n\n\n
