{"id":112156,"date":"2022-03-03T11:15:42","date_gmt":"2022-03-03T11:15:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.snapwhole.com\/index.php\/2010-obituary-2\/"},"modified":"2023-01-17T01:05:10","modified_gmt":"2023-01-17T01:05:10","slug":"elmer-ray-sonny-finlen-1957-2022-obituary","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.snapwhole.com\/index.php\/elmer-ray-sonny-finlen-1957-2022-obituary\/","title":{"rendered":"Elmer Ray \u201cSonny\u201d Finlen 1957-2022 Obituary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color\">Elmer Ray \u201cSonny\u201d Finlen 1957-2022 Obituary<\/p>\n\n\n\n<center><a style=\"color:Tomato; \" href=\"https:\/\/www.snapwhole.com\/index.php\/randolph-county-west-virginia-area-obituaries\/\">Return to Randolph County Area Obituaries Home Page<\/a><\/center><br><br>\n\n\n\n<p>Elmer Ray&nbsp;<em>\u201cSonny\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;Finlen, 64, a resident of Huttonsville, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 28, 2022, at this home, surrounded by his family, and under the care of West Virginia Caring Hospice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was born Nov. 14, 1957, a son of the late Elmer Richard Finlen and the late Ethel Mae Channell Finlen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Dec. 25, 1976, he was married to Barbara Ann Scott Finlen, who survives at Huttonsville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also surviving is one son, Eric Finlen and wife, Julie, Huttonsville; one daughter, Tonya Sycafoose and husband, Okey, of Huttonsville; two sisters, Kathy Lanham and husband, Buck, of Mill Creek, and Terry Butcher and husband, Mike, of Dailey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seven grandchildren, Bailey, Cole and Damian Finlen, Parker and wife, Catlyn, Ben, Chloe and boyfriend, Nick, and Zander Sycafoose; and two great-grandchildren, Paityn and Konnor Sycafoose also survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also preceding him in death in addition to his parents was one brother, Ronald Finlen; and his father and mother-in-law, Virgil and&nbsp;<em>\u201cTibby\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;Scott.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sonny attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed at Myles Lumber for 32 years and Fox Lumber for two years prior to becoming disabled. He enjoyed all WVU Sports, NASCAR, hunting and fishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday from the funeral home chapel with Rev.
