Fred Bennett, 87, of Onego, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born June 5, 1916, in Onego, he was the son of the late John W. Bennett and Effie Alice Davis Bennett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Burrel Bennett, Harley Bennett and Estel Bennett; and six sisters, Lena Mallow, Alta Harper, Flossie Raines, Lona White, Nida Ketterman and Kate Davis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Bennett was the last surviving member of his immediate family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was custodian for McCall\u2019s Printing Co. in Bowie, Md., and was a farmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was a lifelong member of the Seneca United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Mildred Bennett Bennett; three sons, John H. Bennett of White Marsh, Md., Larry R. \u201cRick\u201d Bennett of Bear, Del., George Wayne Bennett of Seneca Rocks; one daughter, Loretha K. Humphrey of Daytona Beach, Fla., 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Seneca United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Barbara Rexroad and Pastor Rebecca Bennett. Interment will be in the Bennett Family Cemetery at Onego. Memorials may be made to Seneca United Methodist Church or American Heart Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
