Paul Edwin Chase, 89, of Route 4, Box 577C, Buckhannon, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at 10 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Cindy Long of Kesling Mill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was born Aug. 28, 1913, in Glady, a son of the late Adam Milton and Hattie Rachel Grogg Chase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Dec. 23, 1949, he married Thelma May Lantz Chase, who preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 1992. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surviving are one son, Edwin Chase, Buckhannon; three daughters, Faye Hart, Saudi Arabi, Cindy Long, Kesling Mill, and Jane Austinson, California; one sister, Dorothy Torre, California; one grandson, Jamie Hart, Austin, Texas; one granddaughter, Melanie Moreno, Florida; and four great-grandchildren. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was preceded in death by one sister, Neal Ketterman; and three brothers, James Chase, Hayward Chase and Forrest Chase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Chase was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was a medical specialist in the U.S. Army during World War II. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He participated in the D-Day landing at Normandy and served until the end of the war. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was an avid trout fisherman and a member of Buckhannon VFW Post 3663. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was a Protestant by faith. Graveside services will be at Heavner Cemetery at Buckhannon Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interment will follow. Poling-St. Clair <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
