Betty Jean Osborne Currence, 76, a resident of Mill Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, Feb. 7, 2003, at her home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She had been in declining health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was born Sunday, Feb. 28, 1926, at Norton, the daughter of the late Glen W. Osborne and Ida Mae Knarr Osborne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During September 1943, she was married to Hileray C. \u201cBoone\u201d Currence Jr., who preceded her in death on May 29, 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Hammonds and husband, Bill, Mill Creek, and Patty Corley Tryon and husband, Rich, Fairmont; one son, Jack Currence and wife, Shirley, Mill Creek; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was one sister, Helen Louise Gooden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Currence attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked for several years for the W.T. Grant Co.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also worked as a teacher\u2019s aide and later as a cook for Randolph County Schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was a member of the Mill Creek United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women\u2019s Circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends will be received at the Mill Creek United Methodist Church from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final rites will be conducted at the church at 2 p.m. Monday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rev. Verl Simmons and the Rev. Todd Corley will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Betty Jean Osborne Currence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
