Vallie Esther Davis, 67, of Woodbine, Md., died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at the home of her son, Robert, after an extended illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was born April 7, 1935, in Randolph County, a daughter of the late Luther J. and Opal Tinger Summerfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was married to William Harvey Davis III, who preceded her in death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surviving are one daughter and one-in-law, Rose Ann Davis Kraft and George Kraft of Jessup, Md.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William H. Davis IV of California, Md., and Robert H. and Claudia Davis of Woodbine, Md.; one grandson, Christopher Newman of Jessup, Md.; one brother, Luther H. Summerfield of Cedar Creek, Mo.; and three sisters, Nancy Johnson of Randallstown, Md., Mary Fillipelli of Beaver Falls, Pa., and Jane Golliday of Aurora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was preceded in death by one son, Scott Andrew Davis; one sister, Florence Mastrogiuseppe; and one brother, Roy Summerfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be no public visitations. Graveside services will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Route 97 and Union Chapel Road, Glenwood, Md., Tuesday at 10 a.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carroll Hospice, 95 Carroll St., Westminster, Md. 21157 or St. Paul Episcopal Church, 16457 Old Frederick Road, Mt. Airy, Md. 21771. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, Winfield, Md., is in charge of the arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
