Georgia Rose Meader Evans, 89, a former resident of Trona, Calif., the Tygart Hotel Apartments, and more recently of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, departed this life Sunday evening, July 20, 2003, at the Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health since December of 2002.

She was born Monday, Feb. 16, 1914, at Horton, a daughter of the late Frank H. Meader and Retta Teter Meader.

She was twice married, first to John Joseph Pohan, and second, to Joseph Henry Evans, both preceding her in death.

Surviving are one son, James L. Evans; one daughter, A. Ann Tankersley and husband, Joe, San Diego, Calif., four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and James Meader; one foster brother, Arthur Teter; two sisters, Mary Propst and Hazel Meader; and one grandchild.

She attended the schools of Randolph County. She was a former member of the Ladies Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Trona, Calif., a member of Saint Brendan Catholic Church and she was a homemaker.The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at which time final rites will be conducted. Sister Mary Ella Morrison, OP, will officiate and cremation will follow. The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at which time final rites will be conducted.
