The Altostratus I was a conceptual design for a sailplane published in Soaring Feb 1981. The author built a 1\/5 scale model based on a computer simulation. The model is made of foam FG CF Epoxy and flown in San Diego. Now in Smithsonian Inst. Air and Space Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Akaflieg Berlin B-11 is the topic of this article. Forward sweep: 18 deg 15 M span ~795 lb. Newly received photos and drawings. The CG estimate was wrong. Instead of a fix the plane was destroyed. A scale model is to be built despite no flying original. 10″ root is CJ-25 2-09 tip is Clark X w\/o twist. Photos of construction is shown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leading Edge Gliders F6F Hellcat is reviewed. www.leadingedgegliders.com 3 servo models (2 Ailerons 1 Elevator) EPP w\/ CF tubing for strength. Covering was white Solartex which was painted and primed. Paint adhesion was poor and model was recovered and flown at Wilson Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Visalia field is huge and nearly entirely bordered by cotton fields. Limited to 325 entries 2500 launches from 4 winches. Photo Essay<\/p>\n\n\n\n
