Ed Berris of Sky King RC Products has re-kitted several kits that had gone out of production like the EPP kits of Dave Sanders (DAW). The Article is a review of the ELF kit from Sky King featuring pitcheron (wingeron) control. Harris Nelson Design w\/ 50 Inch span. The Shrike is the straight wing version. Quality is excellent with laser cut parts all linkages and parts are supplied and obechi skinned for wings. FG Fuselage. Use micro-balloons to keep the epoxy from soaking through the obechi. Good instructions about the lay-up and vacuum bagging. Model comes out with 20 oz all up weight. Launches from bungie or hand launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hot the Tri-cities Sixpack Inch slope soaring event was developed. Beautiful photography of the event to tape place on 3 slopes with 6 different kinds of flying. Eagle Butte Kiona Butte and Chandler Butte were the locations odern Scale Vintage Scale Power Slope Scale (PSS)
A comparison of thermal soaring on overcast days and sunny days. The Energy Budget is discussed. Solar heat is dissipated through ground conduction radiation to space evaporative cooling and convection (vertical air movement). Flying gliders on cloudy days can be very successful. The same laws of natural physics apply and thermals will develop at the same place they normally do for the most part. The thermals are not likely to rise as high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Visalia Soaring Festival is the focus of the November issue which is covered by Bill with photos talked from an excellent digital camera provided by Dave Beardsley of the Seattle Area Soaring Soc. A CD of the event will be sent to anyone who s picture appears in the coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
