Noble Edward \u201cBubby\u201d Auvil, 87, a resident of the Brushy Fork community, St. George, departed this life early Sunday morning, Dec. 30, 2012 at his home with his devoted daughter, Paula, at his bedside. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He had been in declining health for the past year and critical health for the past three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was born Wednesday, March 25, 1925, at the old Henry Shaffer Place at St. George, a son of the late Clarence James Auvil and the late former Sarah Kathryn Poling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was twice married. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Feb. 10, 1951, at Red House, Md., he was married to the former Grace Marie Waybright, who preceded him in death during 1979, and second to the former Kathleen Cox, who preceded him in death June 12, 1999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surviving are four sons, David Edward Auvil and wife, Geraldine of Shinston, Tim Layn Auvil of St. George, Keith Auvil of Parsons and Danny \u201cBus\u201d Auvil and wife, Windy, of Oceana, N.Y.; two daughters, Sue Knotts and husband, Greg, of Sugarlands and Paula Kay Bolyard of Philippi; three sisters, Sylvia Boyles and Caroline Poling, both of Philippi and Nellie Ruth Auvil of St. George; and 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also preceding him in death were one son, Roger Lee Auvil; five brothers, Wayne Auvil, Robert Auvil, John Auvil, Walther Auvil and Junior Auvil; and five sisters, Nora Poling, Goldie Wilson, Lettia Dumire, Laura Poling and Pearl Wratchford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He attended the one-room Wolfe Run School at Jonathan Run. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was a former employee of Dumire Lumber Co., working as a woodsman for more than 40 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was a member of Brushy Fork Church of the Brethren for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Friday, Jan. 4, at 1:30 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate, and interment will follow in Pifer Mountain Cemetery at St. George.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Noble Edward \u201cBubby\u201d Auvil. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
