Lloyd Everson, 78, of Beverly Pike, Beverly, died at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in Talbott Personal Care Home in Belington.
Mr. Everson was born Nov. 19, 1923, in the Pt. Pleasant community of Barbour County, a son of the late Waitman E. and Lenna Thompson Everson.
Surviving are two brothers, George Everson, Oakton, Va., and Jesse Everson, Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Mrs. Robert E. (Pearl) Moore, Belington, and Mrs. Harold (Marie) Kelley, with whom he made his home; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Estel Everson, Otis Everson and Joe Everson; a sister, Lula Goss; and two infant sisters.
Mr. Everson attended the schools of Barbour County and was a 1942 graduate of Belington High School.
Shortly after graduation, he was inducted in to the military and was stationed in England with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Following World War II, he attended Fairmont State College receiving a bachelor\u2019s degree in secondary education. He also did graduate work at West Virginia University.
He was retired from the Barbour County School System having taught in Belington High School, Philip Barbour High School and Belington Middle School. He was a member of Barbour County Association of Retired School Employees and was a life member of the National Education Association.
He was an active member of and past president of Belington Kiwanis Club and served as sponsor of the Philip Barbour Key Club.
He was a charter and active member of Laurel Mountain Post 410, VFW and a member of the American Legion Post 96. He was an active member of Belington Church of Christ.
In 1984, he donated the logs from the farm home in which he grew up to the Barbour County Fair Association.
The logs were reassembled and now stand as the one-room school on the Barbour County Fairgrounds.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends may call at Schoonover-stemple Funeral Home in Belington today from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, with Michael Phillips, minister of Belington Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow in Belington Fraternal Cemetery.<\/p>
