Regina June Fortney, 38, a resident of Livingston Avenue, Elkins, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2002, at her residence. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.
She was born Oct. 15, 1963, in Elkins, the daughter of the late Harry T. Carr, who preceded her in death in September 2001, and Mary Ellen Coontz Carr, who survives in Thomas.
On Jan. 1, 1985, she was united in marriage to Roger Lee Fortney, who survives.
Surviving are her mother-in-law, Betty Cutright Fortney; a daughter, Amanda Jane Fortney, at home; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Lynn Tetterton, Erwin, Tenn.; a son, Justin Thomas Fortney, at home; a stepson, Roger Lee Fortney Jr., Elkins; three sisters, Rebecca McVicker and Loretta Carr, both of Thomas, and Donna Carr, Fairmont; one half sister, Brenda Fortney, Erwin, Tenn.; one stepgrandson, Scott Ellis Tetterton; and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Dempsey (Nancy) Lambert and Mrs. Tim (Loretta) Currence, both of Elkins; five brothers-in-law, Bill and Esther Fortney and Robert and Mary Fortney, all of Elkins, Denver and Ellen Fortney and Alan and Josie Fortney, all of Mill Creek, and Jimmy and Michelle Fortney of Beverly.
Preceding her in death besides her father was her father-in-law, James A. Fortney.
Regina was a homemaker and made hand-sewn quilts. She loved crafts and was an avid bingo player.
At the time of her death she was employed by Bruce Hardwood, where she had worked as a nestor for the past nine years.
A 1982 graduate of Tucker County High School, she was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 175 and a Presbyterian by faith.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home on Sunday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel on Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Walter Blough, retired Brethren minister, will officiate. Interment will follow in Elkins Memorial Gardens.<\/p>
