ELSIE JANE FANSLER HORNICK, age 91 years, a resident of Kings Runs Road, Beverly, departed this life Monday evening, March 29, 2010 at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Pingley with whom she had made her home for the past seven months. Mrs. Hornick was born at Kelly Mountain in Elkins on Monday, September 2, 1918, a daughter of the late Icie Isner Fansler and Earnest Fansler. On February 29th, 1936 in Elkins, Elsie was married to Jess Willard Hornick who preceded her in death on September 6, 1994.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn J. Pingley, Beverly, Nancy Srnsky and husband Ken of Elkins, three sons, Fred Hornick and wife Norma, Wayne Hornick and wife Sandra, all of Beverly, Frank Jess Hornick, Summersville, two daughters-in-law, Jackie Hornick, Beverly, and Jean Hornick, Elkins, four sisters, Catherine Carner, Houston, TX, Pearl Leasure, Port Orange, FL, Irene Snyder, Odenton, MD and Beatrice D\u2019Angelo, Hampstead, NC, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, Sophie. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Crinoline Triplett Isner and Esau Isner, one daughter, Loretta Bennett, one son, Gilbert Hornick, four sisters Stella Sheets, Marie Evans, Cleo Johnson, and Jessie Hornick, brothers Boyd Fansler, Gilbert Fansler, and Clarence, one grandson, Mark Sneberger, one great grandchild, Christine Bennett, two sons-in-law, Raymond Neil Bennett and Russell Pingley,
Mrs. Hornick attended the schools of Randolph County, was a homemaker, and was one of the last surviving \u201cRosie the Riveters\u201d working in the shipyards in Baltimore, Md. during World War II. She was known for her kind spirit who deeply loved her Lord.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 10 AM until 12 Noon, the funeral hour. The Reverend Bob D\u2019Angelo will officiate and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.<\/p>
