Elizabeth Ann \u201cLibby\u201d Currence Schoonover, 77, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 7, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. Libby was born Monday, August 30, 1937 in Valley Head, a daughter of the late Hugh Currence and Lemma Hickman Currence. On August 2, 1955, she married Steward Schoonover Sr. who survives in Elkins. Left to cherish her memory is one son, Steward Joe Schoonover Jr. and wife Vickie of Dailey, one granddaughter, Beth Butcher and husband Billy of Beverly, two great granddaughters, Alexis and Jillian Butcher, two nieces, Judy Ware and husband Roger of Elkins and Naida Simpson, one nephew, Randy Sharps and two sisters in law, Regina Simpson and husband Tom and Shelby Sharps. Preceding Libby in death besides her parents was one brother, Bill Currence, two sisters, Patricia Whetsell and Lemma Jean Currence and one nephew, Jeff Simpson. Libby attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of Elkins High School. She had been employed as a legal secretary for the West Virginia Grievance Board. Libby enjoyed knitting and loved spending time with family, especially her granddaughter and great granddaughters. Libby was a Presbyterian by faith and had been a member of Midland Presbyterian Church. She was proud to be a member of the Red Hat Society of Elkins and a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Beverly. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Libby\u2019s dear friend, Sandy Tolin, for sitting up with her many nights and to the employees of Hospice Care in Elkins. Libby\u2019s request for cremation was honored. A visitation with family will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Friday, September 12, 2014 from Noon until 1P, the funeral hour. Inurnment will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery in Elkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
