DOROTHY McLAUGHLIN HESS 1934-2013 Obituary<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DOROTHY McLAUGHLIN HESS, age 78 years, a resident of Elkins, WV, departed this life Tuesday morning, July 16, 2013 quietly in her sleep at her home. She had been in declining health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was born, October 8, 1934 at Marlinton, WV, a daughter of the late Lonnie Preston McLaughlin, Sr. and Stella Grace Kelley McLaughlin. On August 16, 1973, she was married to Ralph Charles Hess, Jr., who preceded her in death February 18, 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Surviving are one step son, Ralph Charles Hess, III and wife Nikkie of Ashland, KY; one step daughter, Melanie Lynn Hess of Elkins; two brothers, Pete McLaughlin and wife Fran of Marlinton and Lyle McLaughlin of Eastern Shore, MD; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Chip, Nikki, Joseph and Ashley; and three great grandchildren, Otis, Lola and Adison; one nephew, Dexter McLaughlin of Baltimore, MD and three nieces, Kimberly, Julie and Sheryl McLaughlin, all of Baltimore, MD;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was a graduate of Marlinton High School. She worked alongside her husband Ralph at the Hess Oil Company on the Parsons Road, serving in various positions. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and belonged to the Women’s Club of the Church. She loved her cats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dorothy’s request for cremation was honored. A private graveside service will be held. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Randolph County Humane Society, P. O. Box 785, Elkins, WV 26241 or to the Mountain State Forest Festival, P. O. Box 388, Elkins, WV 26241.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
