Mildred Grace Williams Collett, 65, a resident of Parsons and more recently Cortland Acres Nursing Home, passed from this life early Thursday morning, April 11, 2013.

Mildred was born Wednesday, July 30, 1947, a daughter of the late Ira Hansford Williams and Anna Belle Phillips Williams.

On Sept. 9, 1966, she married Roger Lee Collett, who survives in Parsons. They had celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Also surviving are one sister, Dottie Knicely of Cortland Acres; one brother, Ira Wesley Williams of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her parents were three sisters, Hester Frey, Madeline Zinn and Dakota Howdyshell; and six brothers, Virgil, Hoy, Ira, Cecil, Denver and Roy Williams.

Mildred attended Parsons High School and worked for Parsons Footwear and the Kingsford Charcoal Co. She was a Methodist by faith and attended First United Methodist Church of Parsons. Mildred will always be known for her very giving nature and her love of cats. Mildred always shared what she had with the other residents at Cortland Acres.

Visitation will be conducted at Summerfield Funeral Home of Parsons Saturday, April 13, from 2 until 4 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. James Snyder will officiate. Mildred’s request for cremation will then be honored. Interment will take place at a later date in Shiloh Cemetery in Barbour County.
