Mary Willa Chambers Dye Scott 1917-2002

Mary Willa Chambers Dye Scott, 84, of Newton Square, Pa., and formerly of Elkins, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, in White Horse Village in Newton Square, Pa. Death was attributed to congestive heart failure.

Mrs. Scott was born Feb. 20, 1917, in Fairmont

She was twice married. First, in 1942, she married Donald L. “Jim” Dye, who preceded her in death in 1994. Second, in 1996, she married Dr. J. Clifford Scott, who survives.

Also surviving are a sister, Sylvia Miller, Morgantown; a daughter, Maria L. Dye, Amherst, Mass.; a son, David R. Dye, Philadelphia, Pa.; three grandchildren, four stepdaughters and four stepgrandchildren.

Mrs. Scott attended Davis & Elkins College and graduated from West Virginia University in 1938, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. After graduation, she taught high school English in Elkins. She also taught human relations at Swarthmore High School and later worked as an admissions officer at Swarthmore College.

She volunteered at the Sharon Arts Center and the local library in New Ipswich, N.H.
