William “Bill” Glenn Harper, 62, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021.

Bill was born in Elkins in April 1958, to Edward Dice Harper Jr, and Wilma Mae Moore.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1976-1997, retiring after 20 years; he’s remembered by fellow Airmen as a remarkable leader. He was a loving husband, father, and Papa and will be truly missed.

He is survived by his wife of over 44 years, Virginia “Elaine” Lewis Harper; daughters, Katherine Willet (Ronnie) and Sara Sheets (Jacob); brother, Edward Dice Harper III (Judith); sisters, Randy Harper and Pamela Varner (Richard); grandchildren Brianna Smith (fiance) Ryan Diaz), Brandon Smith (Fransisca), Elise Harper, Reagan Sheets and Mckenna Sheets; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home on Jan. 13, 2021, followed by a funeral service. Interment will be at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Jan. 22, 2021, for immediate family only.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Society in his honor.
