A. Kathleen Worthington, 78, a resident of Carol Road, Bowling Green, Ohio, departed this life Sunday morning, Oct. 20, 2002, in Wood County Nursing Home.

She was born Sunday, Dec. 23, 1923, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Harry O. Crickard and Dessie Mae Kittle Crickard.

On Dec. 9, 1946, she married Edward F. Worthington, who preceded her in death on April 23, 2000.

Surviving are one son, Thomas E. Worthington, Bowling Green, Ohio; one sister, “JaneAnn” Louk, Norfolk, Va.; and three grandchildren, Tyler E. and Tayler M. Worthington and Lauren A. Kessler, all of Bowling Green, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Crickard.

Mrs. Worthington worked as a crossing guard for the Bowling Green City Schools for 10 years, had worked at Bowling Green State University at the Student Book Exchange, as a switchboard operator and at Student Health Center. She also worked at Maurer’s Furniture Store in Fairmont, as a telephone operator and secretary in Baltimore, Md. She had owned and operated the Petite Beauty Shop with her niece Jeanette Legg in Cygnet, Ohio, had owned and operated The Fairmont Hobby Center in Fairmont, worked at Bowling Green Manor Nursing Home, the Armstrong Theaters Inc., the Wood County Hospital Gift Shop and as a telephone operator for General Telephone all at Bowling Green, Ohio.

She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church Portage, the First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green, Ohio, where she worked o the Bazaar Staff, Church functions, and as a volunteer. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi, Laureate Beta Tau Chapter and received the “Woman of the Year” award in 1996. She was a former member of the Bowling Green Women’s Club, was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a graduate of Warner Beauty College. She was a lifelong artist, enjoying oil paintings and drawing. She made and sold ceramics and crafts.

Friends were received at Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green, Ohio, Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Graveside services were held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green with the Rev.
