Agnes Snyder, 99, of Floral City, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at home, under the loving care of her family.

Born on January 16, 1911, in Gould, West Virginia, to the late Austin and Myrtle Tenney,

she has been a full-time resident since 1992.

Prior to that, she and her late husband, Carl, had spent the winter months in Floral City since 1975, coming from Ivanhoe, West Virginia.

She was a retired postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service in West Virginia with 42 years of service.

Agnes was a member of the Floral City Baptist Church, the Saints Aglow and Golden Agers fellowships, both in Floral City.

She was a member of the Farm Women’s Club, The Rebecca Lodge and the Sago Baptist Church, all of West Virginia.

Survivors include two sons, Arkie (Ramona) Snyder, Richmond, VA, and Stephen (Dianne) Snyder, Hayward, WI; four daughters, Jean Grandinette, Spring Hill, FL, Wilda (Edward) Lunceford, Floral City, Bessie (Chuck) Utz, Floral City, and Barbara Gould, Lincolnton, GA; her brother, Lawrence Tenney, Medway, MA; three sisters, Laudie Hess, Mountain Lake, MD, Donna Lou Powers, Auburn, MA, and Carol Sullivan, Clinton, MD; 22 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to raising her own 6 children, Agnes and Carl were foster parents to 32 children, including Marilyn McConatha and Juanita McCauley, who she raised since they were 2 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, the Rev. Carl Snyder, and 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 2 p.m. from the Floral City Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Quates officiating.

Burial will follow at the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City.

Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness.
