Alan Clayton Simmons, 62, a resident of 310 Second St., Elkins, departed this life Friday, July 26, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected and due to complications following surgery.

He was born Oct. 1, 1939, at Elkins, a son of the late Clayton Garcia Simmons and Mary Elizabeth Hill Simmons.

Surviving are one brother, Kenneth Simmons, Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Marlene Regina Horne, Elkins, and Patricia Patrulla, Baltimore, Md.; four nieces and seven nephews.

Mr. Simmons attended the schools of Elkins, and owned and operated a baseball card and hobby shop on Second Street in Elkins. He was a Methodist.

At the request of the deceased, his remains were donated to the Human Gift Registry of West Virginia University Hospital at Morgantown. A memorial service will be held at a later date. This announcement is a courtesy of Lohr & Barb Funeral Home.
