Alanna “Lana” Faith Chamberlain

Alan Ronald Chamberlain, age 29, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life from injuries sustained in a house fire as he attempted to save the lives of his children, Isabella Grace “Bella” Chamberlain, age 4, Alanna Faith “Lana” Chamberlain, age 2, Brianna Hope “Brie” Chamberlain, age 2, and his step-daughter, Katherine Claire “Kate” Bolgar, age 11. Bella and Lana passed from this life on Monday, October 28, 2013 at their home. Alan, Kate, and Brie passed from this life Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Alan was born Friday, October 5, 1984, in Elkins, a son of Telma J. “Tammy” Croston and husband, John of Valley Bend and Alan Ross “Rossco” Chamberlain and wife, Karen, of Franklin. On April 21, 2009, he was married to Jennifer Hyde who survives. Alan was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 2003, and received an associate’s degree in computer information management from the International Academy of Design and Technology in 2004. He was named Who’s Who during both years of college. He was employed by Northwest Hardwoods, Dailey Yard. Although he was an excellent provider for his family, Alan was a big kid at heart. Living life to its fullest, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing video games, spending time with his family, and, most of all, he loved his kids. Kate was born Saturday, July 20, 2002 in Gaithersburg, MD, a daughter of Dmitriy and Courtney Bolgar of Virginia, and Alan and Jennifer Chamberlain of Elkins. She was a sixth grader at Elkins Middle School with an inquisitive nature who loved reading and spending time in the library. She loved her family and friends, her horse named Apples, playing the Wii, dragons, raising her chickens, Pokémon, music, dance, and singing, especially with the choir. Bella was born Saturday, June 20, 2009 in Elkins to Alan and Jennifer Hyde Chamberlain. She was a Pre-k student at Third Ward Elementary. Lana and Brie were born Friday, January 7, 2011 in Elkins to Alan and Jennifer Hyde Chamberlain. They were always smiling and singing. Bella, Lana, and Brie loved to dress up as princesses, but they also enjoyed just being outdoors playing in the yard and getting dirty. They didn’t need toys, but sticks, leaves, walnuts, or whatever they could find would keep them entertained for hours. Others left to cherish the memory of Alan, Kate, Bella, Brie, and Lana include Alan’s son, Braedyn Chamberlain, Alan’s maternal grandparents, Ronald and Artie Shiflett of Elkins, Alan’s siblings, Amanda Wyatt and husband, Jubal, of Eaton, CO, Sarah Ogden and fiancé, AJ Figueroa of Spring Lake, NC, Justin Chamberlain of Junior, and Kaitlin Chamberlain of Valley Bend, Kate’s grandparents, Michael and Zoya Bolgar, Karen and Paul Hyde, Sherrill Farley, Jane Corey, and David Windell, uncles Brian Hyde and Jeff Hyde, two siblings, Quentin and Talia Bolgar, two great grandmothers, Kate Hyde and Barbara Hooff, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and an entire community touched by this loss. Alan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Mary L. Chamberlain. A visitation will be held at the Elkins Church of God on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 2PM until 6PM at which time, a funeral service will be held. Services will open with a prayer and then various family members will provide eulogies and fond memories. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
