OBITUARY: AMER PAUL POLING Amer Paul Poling, 83, of went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, August 1, in the Davis Memorial Hospital. He was a resident of Cortland Acres, Thomas. He was born June 7, 2917, to the late Nathaniel Oscar and Martha Anzania (Pitzer) Poling. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Marie “Sally” (McCallister) Poling; by sisters, Isabella Ellen Coffman, Beatrice Victoria Sevier and Delphia Bowman; and by a brother, Edward Poling. Survivors include two brothers, Elwood Poling, Augusta, Russell Poling, Mineral Ridge, Oh.; by sister-in-law and Lolly Nichols and husband, Tom, Highland Ranch, Colo., and sister-in-law, Myoma “Jo” Poling, Augusta. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews and by two special friends, Julie Lunsford and Leota Hornbeck. Mr. Poling was retired as a custodian in the housekeeping department of Ursinus College in Collegeville, Penn. following 26 years service. He was also a former Farmer and Timberman. He was a member of the Shiloh Church of the Brethren. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Cortland Acres and the Davis Memorial Hospital, for the care given Mr. Poling. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 5, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Garry Clem will officiate and interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday and from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. , the funeral hour, on Thursday.
