AMOS CROSTON Amos Croston, 87, of Rt. # 1, Moatsville, passed away on Thursday, April 14, in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. He had been in failing health but his death followed relatively brief illness. He was born on May 12, 1923, near Philippi, a son of the late Delbert Croston and the late Ollie (Croston) Croston Kennedy. On October 15, 1952, he married the former Violet L. Poe, who survives at their home at Rt. #1, Moatsville. Also surviving are a number of special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Raymond Kennedy; by two brothers, Thamer Croston and Junior Croston; by a half-brother, Edward Kennedy, and by two half-sisters, Lulia Wagner and Nina Lee Norris. Mr. Croston was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from employment with Republic Steel Corp. in Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 17, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Winfield Mayle will officiate and interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Sunday. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
