Andrew Harold Mace, 87, of Route 3, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

He had been residing with his daughter, Dr. Patricia M. Leonard, in Hagerstown for the past three years.

Born Nov. 11, 1914, in Hacker Valley, W.Va., he was the son of the late Roy Hamilton and Flossie Hill Mace.

He was a 1933 graduate of Weston High School.

He was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad, Ridgely, W.Va., from 1939 to 1956.

He owned and operated Mace’s Furniture Store, Weston, for 24 years, retiring in 1980.

He also owned and developed Mace Addition in the Stonecoal (W.Va.) area.

He attended Horner United Methodist Church, where he served as an Adult Sunday School teacher.

He was a member and past president of Weston Lions Club; past president of Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen of Western Maryland; a volunteer fireman for LaVale (Md.) Volunteer Fire Co.; a 32nd degree Mason with Weston Masonic, AF&AM Lodge 10; and a member of American Numismatics Association, National Republican Presidential Task Force, West Virginia University Athletic Booster Association, the National Rifle Association, and West Virginia Christmas Tree Growers Association.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Goldie E. Corathers Mace; one son, Dr. Andrew H. Mace Jr. of Morgantown, W.Va.; one daughter, Dr. Patricia M. Leonard of Hagers-town; five sisters, Eula M. Brown of Buckhannon, W.Va., Lakie P. McPherson of Morgantown, Margie F. Sayre of Weston, Madeline Summerfield of Dothan, Ga., and Virginia L. Taylor of Plant City, Fla.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Harry B. Mace.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Horner United Methodist Church, Horner, W.Va.

The Revs. Bill Dawson, Mark Mooney and Clyde Crites will officiate. Burial will be in Weston Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home, Jane Lew, W.Va.
