Aranna Lena “Annie” Shrader Howard, age 75, a resident of Shaver’s Run, Randolph County, passed from this life Friday morning, September 2, 2011, in the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. Annie had been in declining health for the past year, but death was sudden and unexpected, and attributed to the result of a pulmonary embolism following surgery. Annie was born February 4, 1936, the daughter of the late Patrick and Lena Lloyd Shrader. She attended Huttonsville Elementary School, Beverly High School and was a 1955 graduate of Tygarts Valley High School. While a student at Beverly High, she was elected “Miss Beverly”. On June 12, 1956, Annie married Levi Marshall Howard, who preceded her in death January 3, 2003. Left to cherish Annie’s memory are five daughters, Sherry (Scott) Powell, Pamela Howard and companion Stanley Wegman, Patricia Howard and fiancee Scott Daniels, Marcia (Jeffrey) Tumblin, and Crystal (Ronald) Taylor; her grandchildren Jason, Matthew and Sarah Howard, Jeremiah Shaw, Paul and Kyle Howard, Ashley Basil, Scott Jr., Timothy and Shaun Powell, Adam and Levi Workman, Samantha Tumblin, Brandon and Alexandria Taylor and Anna Daniels, and many nieces and nephews. She was especially fond of her niece and good friend of many years, Catherine. Annie is also survived by several great grandchildren. Annie was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers: Howard Shrader (wife, Laura) and Willard Shrader (wife, Bonnie); and four sisters, Genevieve (Charles) Arbogast, Viola (Monroe) Hammond, Velma (Lawerence) Moore, and Mary (Edward) Moore. She was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Randall “Big Randy” Howard, and Curtis Michael Howard. Annie was a very spiritual woman whose pastime included writing poetry. Her favorite subjects included her faith and nature. We will miss her. May she go gladly into the arms of those who await her. Godspeed.
