Arden Kendall Riggleman, 75, of Mabie, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at his residence, following an extended illness.

Mr. Riggleman was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Hemlock, a son of the late Ernest H. and Belvia Light Riggleman.

On June 19, 1958, in Oakland, Md., he married Barbara Joan Helmick Riggleman, who survives in Mabie.

Also surviving are two sons, James Lee Riggleman and wife, Denise, and Arden Kendall Riggleman Jr. and wife, Debra, all of Mabie; a daughter, Cheryl Annette Riggleman, Elkins; a sister, Avis Rowan, Clarksburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Riggleman, Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Marie, Eric, Nick and Alicia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Arnell and Beatrice Riggleman; and a brother-in-law, Ernest Rowan.

Mr. Riggleman attended the schools of Upshur County and was a 1944 graduate of Buckhannon-upshur High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II and was employed as a coalminer for 45 years having retired from Bentley Coal Co. in 1991. He was a member of Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a Methodist by faith.

Funeral Arrangements: Friends may call at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Stella Faye Moyer officiating. Interment will follow in Upper Rowan Cemetery near Mabie, where full military rites will be accorded at the gravesite by members of H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care Corp., 629 North Ave., Elkins, W.Va. 26241.
