Arlin “Bube” Arbogast, 79, a former resident of Elkins, and more recently of the Norton Community, passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at 3:54 a.m. at his residence. He had been in failing health since March.

He was born Jan. 14, 1923, at Valley Head, a son of the late Marvin and Mary Luckey Arbogast.

On Nov. 13, 1946, he was united in marriage to the former Carrie Rachel Wegman, who survives in Norton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Geraldine R. Robers of Milton, Fla., and Glenda J. King of Elkins; seven sons, Delmas E. Johnson of Kerens, Roger D. Pritt of Newton, Ala., Henry Allen Arbogast, Marvin E. Arbogast and James R. Arbogast, all of Elkins, Gary F. Arbogast of Norton, and Danny L. Argobast of El Paso, Texas; one sister, Elva Rutherford of Norton; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his parents are two grandsons, Delmas Johnson Jr. and Jeffery Arbogast; and two brothers, Everett and Burl Arbogast; and two infant children.

He was a retired veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion, and a Catholic by faith.

Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home today after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel Thursday at 1 p.m. Pastor Neil Parsons of the St. George United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the American Legion Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale. The Tygart Valley Post 3627 VFW and the H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion, will conduct full military services at the graveside.
