Arveda M. Pritt, age 102 years, of 477 Barnes Street, Keyser, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010, around 3:30 a.m. at Potomac Valley Hospital.

Born June 14, 1907 in Reeds Creek WV, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Martha (Radar) Hartman. She was also preceded in death by her husband D. R. Pritt, seven sisters and four brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Pritt was a faithful member of the Keyser Church of The Brethren for over 60 years. She worked at the Burlington Children’s Home from 1929 to 1940. She was also an active member of various organizations that helped the community.

Surviving are one daughter, Genevieve Hampton of Marietta, GA; three step-children; Hilda Shoemaker of Newnan, GA, Robert E. Pritt of Fruit Land, Utah and Thomas E. Pritt of Kaysville, Utah. She is also survived by 15 step-grandchildren, 4 foster grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Marjorie Dale Goodman and Virginia Bowers, both of Elkins; and Bobbie Fowler, Morgantown.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Markwood Funeral Home with the Reverend Ron Wyrick officiating and assisted by Pastor Dwight Ramsey.

Interment will follow in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation in the memory of Arveda Pritt, to Keyser Church of the Brethren, 152 S. Main Street, Keyser, WV 26726.
