Audrey Belle Barnett, age 100, of French Creek, WV, died Thursday, January 20, 2011. She was born August 23, 1910 in Webster County, WV, a daughter of the late, Albert J. and Isa Belle Miller Cogar. On April 1, 1937 she married Noah Ellis Barnett who preceded her in death on March 28, 1967. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Roger and Paul Barnett; seven brothers, Russell, Sola, Monty, Hersel, Charles, Sylvester and Arlin Cogar; one sister, Agnes Pearl Alkire; infant sister, Vernie Mae Cogar and granddaughter, Missy Barnett. She is survived by three sons, John Barnett of French Creek, Delphin Barnett and wife Sandy of Weston, WV and Dwight Barnett and wife Rita of Buckhannon; three daughters, Gloria Lee Townsend of Sand Fork, WV, Annabelle Barnett of Lodi, OH and Charrolet Joe Moran and husband Henry of French Creek; grandsons, Rodney, Hank, Johnny, Bobby, Teddy, Chuck, Norman, Nelson and Wayne; granddaughters, Lori, Debbie, Connie, Jackie, Dawn, Tina, Tonya and Louella; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barnett was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. She attended the Upshur County Senior Center. She loved to quilt and made beautiful quilts when her eye sight allowed, but her passion was fishing and her stories of her fishing days. At 100 she was still able to go fishing with her grandson Norman Workman and his family and now he can carry on the fishing stories and wonderful memories. Friends will be received Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Cave Cemetery in Rock Cave, WV. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
