Audrey Evelene Hammonds, 83, of East Side Dailey, WV entered into eternal rest Friday evening October 15, 2010 at home. She was born Monday March 7, 1927 in Elkins, WV, a daughter of the late John B. and Myrtle McCauley Johnson. Audrey attended the schools of Randolph County. As a young lady she was employed by Kitzmiller Lumber, as a cook with several logging camps and a homemaker. She was of the Pentecosal faith and attended church at Full Bible Gospel Church in Elkins, WV. Some of Audrey’s hobbies were crocheting, crafting and gardening. She was an outdoors person who loved to gingseng and hunt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ottis Ray Hammonds; one son: Rickie Ray Hammonds; one infant brother: Joy Johnson and two sisters: Ruth McCauley and Velvie Nelson. Left to cherish her memories are her son: Dannie Hammonds and wife Jeanie of East Side Dailey, WV with whom she made her home; one beautiful granddaughter: Christina Hammonds and fiancee Jonathan Phillips of Valley Bend, WV; two precious great-grandsons: Blake and Austin Harris of Valley Bend, WV; one sister: LuVonda McCauley of Morgantown, WV; four brothers: Russell “Buck” Johnson, Delmer Johnson and Gary Johnson all of Elkins, WV and Delmas Johnson of Jimtown, WV and several nieces and nephews. In honoring Audrey’s wishes her body will be cremated. The family will have a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Friday October 22, 2010 at the Harmony Church located in Elkins, WV with the Rev. Dwain Corley officiating.
