Ben Taylor Galford, 78, of Dunmore, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Ben was a farmer, a Navy veteran and a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church at Dunmore, where he contributed many hours of his time to the upkeep of the church and cemetery.

He was born at Dunmore on Sept. 16, 1925, the son of the late Wade C. and Georgia Taylor Galford.

In addition to his parents, a brother, Thomas G. Galford, and a sister, Beulah Meiss, preceded him in death.

His sisters, Beatrice V. Matheny of Green Bank, Marie Lowry of Monterey, Va., Gertrude Carpenter of Prairie Village, Kan., Dollie Simmons of Woodbridge, Va., and several nieces and nephews, survive him.

The Rev. Tom Hill will hold graveside services Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Dunmore.

Friends may call today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home in Marlinton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesley Chapel Cemetery Fund.
