Bernadine Mable Wooten, 74, of Helvetia, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Czar, the daughter of the late John D. and Lela Smith Pugh.

On Sept. 2, 1950, she was married to Elmer Franklin Wooten, who preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1982.

Surviving are six children, Alvin Wooten and wife, Martha, of New Mexico, Douglas Wooten of Helvetia, Wendell Wooten of Jane Lew, Shannon Wooten and wife, Jennifer, of Buckhannon, Mavis Leigh and husband, Julius, of Helvetia, and Kay Howes and husband, Dain, of Czar; 12 grandchildren, Heather Whittier, Eli Wooten, Robin Stump, Nicole Wooten, Shanna Wooten, Christopher Chenoweth, Monica Leigh, Andrea Wooten, Kara Chenoweth, Benjamin Wooten, Megan Wooten and Amber Rolenson; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Stump, Hanna Wooten and Jeremy Wooten; and two brothers, Dwain Dean and Richard Pugh.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Pugh; and two brothers, Junior John Pugh and Raymond Pugh.

She was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and was employed by the H¸tte Restaurant in Helvetia.

Friends will be received at the Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Pine Grove United Methodist Church at Czar. The Rev. Conrad Tenney will officiate and interment will follow n the Pine Grove Cemetery at Czar. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in care of Kay Howes, HC 76, Box 64, Helvetia, W.Va. 26224. The Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel of Buckhannon is in charge of the arrangements for Bernadine Mable Wooten.
