Bernard Teter, age 72 years, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away June 11, 2020 in Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born October 23, 1947 in Randolph County, the son of the late William (Bill) and Donna Geneva Kerns Teter. On April 27, 1968 he was married to the late Catherine Tuzzo. Surviving are two daughters, Lura Kathryn Justice and husband Richard of Lexington, KY and Melinda Kay Putman and husband Jon of Haysville, KS. Two brothers-law, twins, John and Steven Tuzzo of Clarksburg whom Bernard and Catherine raised as their own children; six brothers, Kenneth (Dee) Teter of New Lexington, OH, Joseph W. Jr. (Phyllis) Teter of Wadsworth, OH, Robert (Margaret) Teter of Mill Creek, Tom (Peggy) Teter of Mill Creek, Jerry (Suzie) Teter of Fairview, Keith (Karen) Teter of Mill Creek and one sister Martha (Hertzel) Lanham of Mill Creek; two grandchildren, Brooke (Aaron) Hake and Paul Nelson Teter and two great grandchildren, Jeremy and Anna Hake as well as many nieces and nephews also survive. Bernard was a graduate of the National Harwood Lumber Inspection School in 1968. Bernard and Catherine operated the Beverly Restaurant for twenty five years prior to their retirement. Bernard was also a retired pastor in the Union Mission Conference of North America. He attended the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church and often attended many other local, Christian churches to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bob Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church, Rt. 1, Box 329-1, Elkins, WV 26241 or the Central West Virginia Dialysis Patient Fund or C.W.V.D.P.S., 100 Main Street, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Bernard. Social distancing as well as masks will be required for those in attendance at the visitation or funeral.
