BERNARD W. McGUIRE JR. Bernard Waldron McGuire Jr., 83, of Teter Creek Road, Rt. #2, Philippi, formerly of Baltimore, MD, died Wednesday, November 11, in the Broaddus Hospital, following an extended illness. He was born December 28, 1925, at Baltimore, a son of the late Bernard Waldron (Sr.) And Helen (Lavine) McGuire. On June 30, 1962, he married the former Wilma Lee Riley, who survives at Philippi. Also surviving are three sons, Bernard W. McGuire III and wife, Rebecca, Thomas Walter McGuire, all of Philippi, Francis Paul McGuire and wife, Susan, Ft. Worth, Tex.; two brothers, Francis McGuire, Baltimore, Michael McGuire, Jeffersonville, Va.; three sisters, Sr. Helen McGuire, Baltimore, Betty Priog, Kingwood, Md., Joan Dashille, Towson, Md. and nine grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, William Paul McGuire. Mr. McGuire was a retired firefighter for the Baltimore City Fire Department and was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters, A.F.L.- C.I.O., C.L.C. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Navy and was Roman Catholic by faith. After moving to Barbour County, he had served the Barbour County Senior Citizens as a van driver and driver for Meals on Wheels. Mr. McGuire’s request for cremation was honored. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 16, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Fr. Patsy Iaquinta will officiate. The family requests memorials in the form of donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
