Betty Anne Durrett Williams, 79, a former resident of Charleston, S.C., and a resident of Valentine’s Personal Care Home, Elkins, departed this life at 11:05 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2002, at the personal care home. She had been in declining health for the past year.

She was born on Aug. 26, 1922, at Elkins, a daughter of the late O.B. Durrett, and Maudeline Gertrude Scott Durrett.

She was married to Retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel William Otis “Bill” Williams, who preceded her in death during 1990.

Surviving are three sons, William Jeffrey Williams, Elkins, Gregory Paxton Williams, Louisville, Ky., and Dan Durrett Williams, Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Patty Anne Rothenburg, Tallahassee, Fla., and Susan Jane Wilson, Mahopac, N.Y.; one sister, Velma Brown, Reading, Pa.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Flick.

Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1939, and attended Bowling Green College. She was a homemaker and attended Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church of Elkins and was an avid bridge player.

Friends will be received at Lohr-barb-vance Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Falter officiating. Cremation will follow with inurnment of cremains at Arlington National Cemetery at Arlington, Va., at a later date. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Hospice Care Corp., 629 North Ave., Elkins, W.Va. 26241.
