BETTY LEE NESTOR PHILLIPS, age 80 years, a resident of Rt. 38, St. George, WV, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins, following an extended illness, with her family at her bedside.

She was born Sunday, November 16, 1930 at Mt. Zion, St. George, WV, a daughter of the late Floyd Jennings “Sam” Nestor and Ethel Fawley Nestor. On March 25, 1950, at Red House, MD, she was married to Sylvanus “Murl” Phillips, who preceded her in death September 22, 2003. They had celebrated fifty three years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters, Annetta Vest and husband Donald of St. George, Beverly Hebb and husband Larry of Philippi; two brothers, Clyde Franklin Nestor of Mt. Zion, Eugene Nestor and wife Carol of Clarksburg; two sisters, Elsie Jones of Pheasant Run, Ruth Bott and husband Ralph of VA; four grandchildren, Lenette Vest and fiancé Kenny Poling, Donald M. Vest and wife Darla, Nicole Hebb-burner and husband Josh, Dustin Hebb and fiancé Courtney Bright; five great grandchildren Quintessia Vest, Trevor Poling, Austin Vest, Jessa Hebb-burner, Ella Hebb-burner, one great great granddaughter, Ashlynn Grace Vest; and many special nieces and special nephews. She was called “Grandma” by many.

Preceding her in death are one brother Harold Nestor and one sister, Blanche Falls Bott.

She attended the one room school at Mt. Zion. She enjoyed making quilts, arts and crafts and wood working. She attended the Sycamore Grove Church, which she loved and continued to attend until she no longer was able.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 2 PM. Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery at St. George, WV.
