Betty Rae Weaver, 75, of the Arden community, Route 1, Moatsville, died Tuesday morning, June 17, 2003, in Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas following an extended illness.

She was born Aug. 4, 1927, at Arden, a daughter of the late George S. and Ina Ellen Knotts Rexroad.

Surviving are her former husband, James L. Weaver Sr., Moatsville; three sons, James L. Weaver Jr. and wife, Dolly, Aliquippa, Pa., Richard Lane Weaver and fiancee, Carol, Moatsville, and Jack Randall Weaver and wife, Tammy, Philippi; three daughters, Marsha Diane Serback and husband, Paul, Kathryn Lynn Davis and husband, Bill, and Anamaria Marsh and husband, J.W., all of Moatsville; one brother, Clyde Rexroad, Ft. Worth, Texas; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Joyce Weaver and Debra Weaver; four sisters, Nellie Ramage, Gladys Mae Weaver, Olive Rexroad and Vonda Rexroad; and four brothers, Howard “Perk” Rexroad, Franklin “Bennie” Rexroad, Herbert R. Rexroad and Hoy Lee Rexroad.

Mrs. Weaver was retired from the food service department at Alderson-Broaddus College and was a member of the Arden United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener and reader who loved the outdoors and animals.

Friends may call at the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Downing Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family requests memorials take the form of contributions to Cortland Acres Assoc., HC 60, Box 98, Thomas, W.Va. 26292. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
