Willard Clarence “Bill” Wilson, 85, of Parsons, died Oct. 17 at home. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer

He was born Aug. 22 1916 at Parsons, a son of the late Clarence and Clara Pennington Wilson. On April, 1938 at Parsons, he was married to the former Sarah Eleanor Hornbeck, who survives.

Surviving are two daughters, Jane Wilson Martin, Barbara “Kay” (and Daris) Alkire, all of Parsons; a brother, Herbert Wilson, Hambleton, a sister, Hazel (and Gaston) Poling, Fork Mountain; a half sister, Francis Mason, Fork Mountain; four grandsons, Mark (and Donna) Martin, New York, J.D. Alkire, Parsons, Michael (and Dwanetta) Martin, Glenville, Eric (and Michelle) Alkire, Parsons; a granddaughter, Crystal Martin, Holly Meadows; two great-grandsons, Ben Martin, New York, Chase Alkire, Parsons,; four great-granddaughters, Jordan Alkire, Parsons, Sarah Martin, New York, Callie Martin, Gassaway, Emilie Martin, Glenville.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Lenora Ann Wilson; a brother, Fred Wilson; one step-brother, Howard Collette; two half brothers, Carl and Raymond Wilson; a sister, Blanch Lazzell; four half sisters, Louise Harper, Dessie Harper, Stella Mason, Isabelle Harper; two step-sisters, Armitta Sponaugle and Minnie O’Dell.

He attended the one room school at Fork Mountain, had worked for the Civilian Conservation Core, was an employee of the Parsons Tannery for 37 years, the former J.W. Minear Livery and feed, the former Tucker Farm Supply and Carr’s Feed at Holly Meadows. He was a Parsons City Councilman for 25 years a a member of the Parsons Presbyterian Church at Parsons.

Friends were received at the Barb-Greenlief Funeral Home where final rites were conducted Oct. 21. Pastor Allen Dale Crosten officiated and interment followed at the Bethel Cemetery, Holly Meadows.
