Blanche Verda Reed Baker, 83, of Route 1, Elkins, died at 4:46 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital. Death was attributed to heart failure.

Mrs. Baker was born May 17, 1918, in Onego, a daughter of the late Harrison Reed and Floda Mallow Reed.

On Jan. 1, 1955, she married Oscar Baker, who preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1988.

Surviving are four brothers, Charles Reed, Beverly, Clyde Reed and wife, Betty, Elkins, Donald Reed, Akron, Ohio, and Robert Reed and wife, Rachael, Whitmer; three sisters, Nora Sites and husband, Jearl, Harman, Ilda Wolford and husband, Arthur, Whitmer, and Freda Ratliff and husband, Carney, Davis; 19 nieces and 20 nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Marcella; and four sisters, Eva White, Sylvia Teter, Olive Bennett and Mary Dolly.

Mrs. Baker attended the schools of Randolph County. She was a homemaker and a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Elkins.

Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Lohr-barb-vance Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Don Jacko officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
