Boy’s Life – 1951-08 – Neckerchief Slide of the Month – Sioux Moccocins – Whittlin Jim
Unique slide from Whittlin Jim (W Ben Hunt), miniature moccasins carved from basswood and painted to a Native Indian design, although they are called Sioux moccasins, Whittlin Jim notes to use any Sioux or western indian design
Painting the final design on the moccasins allows for a lot of variations in the design, you could even carve several of the moccasins and paint each set to a different tribal design, I’m not sure too many people would be able to identify the different designs and might think they are all the same, but at least you’ll know they are different

W Ben Hunt created the Whittlin Jim and Lone Eagle names, and published articles under all three name – Ben Hunt wrote 2-4 articles per month for Boy’s Life, and I think he created the Whittlin Jim and Lone Eagle to make is seem like there were multiple authors writing the articles
