Brady Durward Wooddell, 83, of Yorktown, Va., passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003.

A native of Nitro, he was a peninsula resident since 1940.

Mr. Wooddell retired from NASA in 1979 as an engineer technician with 36 years of service. He was an avid golfer and hunter and liked to tinker with cars.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Yorktown, Va.

Mr. Wooddell is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Wooddell; one daughter, Alice Wooddell Kelly and her husband, Colin, of Grafton, Va.; two sons, Walter L. Wooddell and his wife, Pamela, of Wilmington, N.C.; Brady L. Wooddell and his wife, Cathryn, of Yorktown, Va.; two sisters, Vivian Ackerman of Cockeyville, Md.; Dorothy Walden of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Paul H. Wooddell of Sarasota, Fla.; five grandchildren, Brad, Matthew, Morgan T. and Kendall M. Wooddell, and Kinsey Hall.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. today in St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Davis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to the St. Luke’s United Methodist church, 300 Ella Taylor Road, Yorktown, Va. 23692. Amory Funeral Home of Grafton, Va., is handling the arrangements.
