Brenda Lee (Shahan) Brown, 51, a resident of Union Community, Philippi, WV departed this life to be with the Lord on Friday, March 2, 2012, with her family by her side. She was born September 20, 1960 in Elkins, WV a daughter of Perry Shahan who survives at Valley Furnace Community and Mary (Simmons) Shahan who survives at Union Community, Philippi. Brenda was a granddaughter of the late Homer and Eliza (Cross) Shahan and the late Sandford and Katherine (Collett) Simmons. On April 16th, 1983, Brenda was united in marriage to the love of her life and soul mate, Leslie Martin Brown, who survives at their home in Union Community, Philippi. Also surviving are one daughter, Melissa Ann (Brown) Bodkins and husband George, of Union Community in Philippi and one son Franklin Perry Brown and wife Heather (Sandy) Brown of Philippi; four grandsons Corey and Jordan Bodkins, Dorian Brown, and Malachi Sandy, one granddaughter MaKayla Sandy, and a grandchild due in September; two sisters Nina (Shahan) Miller and husband Frank, Kay (Shahan) Weaver and husband Neal and one brother William Shahan, all of Philippi. She also had several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Brenda was a daycare provider and homemaker for many years. She was a faithful “Facebook” fan and loved chatting with her family and posting family pictures of everybody. She was also well known for her cooking. Brenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved and supported her family and friends. They were her life and she always made sure they got together for every holiday. She loved having everybody together and looked forward to having her grand nephew, Anthony Esposito, sing and play his guitar for her. The smile on her face was priceless. She made a special place in her heart for each of her family members and was a great friend to many. She was so special; NO ONE can take her place in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be sadly missed , always loved, and NEVER forgotten. Friends may call from 5-9 pm on Tuesday March 6, 2012, at Schoonover-stemple Funeral Chapel at 609 Crim Avenue Belington WV 26250. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 pm on Tuesday, with Pastor Jessie Mesa officiating. At Brenda’s request, her body will be cremated and her ashes placed on her Thomas Kinkade shelf, at her home. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations would be appreciated to help with the funeral arrangements for Brenda Lee Brown.
