Bueford William Collins, 68, of Rt. 1, Thomas, died Nov. 2, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, following an extended illness.

He was born Sept. 19, 1933, in Calhoun County, a son of the late Cecil Guy and Ivy Belle Welch Collins. On March 10, 1954, he married the former Margaret Josephine “Sue” Smith, who survives at Thomas.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert Collins, Thomas; David (and Catherine) Collins, Horse Shoe Run; Edward Collins, Moorefield; a daughter, Mary Ann (and Steven T.) Lampley Burns, TN; three brothers, Stanley Collins, Thomas; Eugene Collins, Lima, OH; Ronald Collins, Wadestown; two sisters, Evangeline Watson and Verdinia Lawson of Galloway; five grandchildren, Robert Lee Collins II, Kimberly Marie Miller, David Dale Collins II, Debbie Nicole Collins and Edward Collins Jr.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Bueford William Collins Jr.; two sisters, Dorothy Lenora Upton and Evona Collins and a brother, Raymond Collins.

Mr. Collins was a retired coal miner. He was a retired coal miner. He was a Korean Era Veteran of the US Army, a member of the UMWA, The Mountain Top Hunting Club, American Legion Post 12 at Grafton and the Brownton Pentecostal Church of God.

Friends were received at the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, Philippi.

On Monday, Nov. 5, Mr. Collins was moved to the Brownton Pentecostal Church of God where the Rev. Ruth Higginbotham officiated and interment followed in the Concord Cemetery near Belington.
