Calvin Junior George 1928-2021 Obituary

Mr. Calvin Junior George, 93, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021, in the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

He was born March 24, 1928, at Parsons, West Virginia, a son of the late Luther Guy George and the late Laura Alice Carr George.

On Dec. 4, 1948, in Elkins, he was married to Retha Florence Currence, who preceded him in death Dec. 8, 2017.

Surviving are children, David George, Mary McCartney, Martha Pinkston, Rebecca Nelson, Eunice Wallace, Paul George, Stephen George and Esther Black; grandchildren, Laura Saumier, Jonathan George, Michael McCartney, Kevin McCartney, Shawn Pinkston, Sarah Braggs, Samuel Nelson, David Nelson, Sandra McCampbell, Timothy Wallace, Paul George, David George, Calah George, Bradley George, Bethany Coulter, Kenton George, Kayla George, Byron George, Evelyn Black and William Black; 36 great- grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were one son, John George; and siblings, Toy Loughry, Tressa Wilson, Hazel Ruth Sherman, Rella Poling, Glenda Poling and Virginia Williams.

Mr. George was a graduate of Traveca Nazarene College. He was employed by the United States Forest Service as a forest road designer and surveyor prior to his retirement. He attended the Piedmont Bible Church at Thomasville, North Carolina.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at the Hill Top Cemetery on the Kings Run Road, Beverly, West Virginia.

Rev. David George will officiate and interment will follow.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Calvin Junior George.
