Carl David “Dave” Hively, age 58 years, a resident of Huttonsville, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on Saturday, September 22, 2012 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a brief illness. He was born January 21, 1954 at Washington, DC, a son of the late Carl Washington and Flora “Flo” Greynolds Hively. On October 23, 1988 in Elkins, he was married to Wilma Pennington Hively who survives at Huttonsville. Also surviving is one daughter, Crystal Dawn Hively and companion Daniel Taylor of Dailey, step-daughters, Lucinda Morgan & husband Harold, of North Carolina and Tammy Shreve of Elkins, one brother, James P. “Jim” Hively and wife Ashley, of Beverly and a half-sister, Francis Reed, of Maryland. Also surviving is a special aunt & uncle, Sharon & Dew Hively, of Weirton, a special cousin, John McGee, of Beverly and four step-grandchildren and one step great grandchild. Also preceding him in death was one daughter, Carla Jean Hively and two half-brothers, Tom Krushansky and Butch Krushansky. Dave was a graduate of Elkins High School, was a Coal Miner, a manager at the Elkins Food Lion and Water Plant Operator for the Huttonsville Correctional Center where he was selected “Operator of the Year” in the State of West Virginia. He was currently employed as Chief Water Plant Operator for the town of Beverly and was the owner of Inter County Contracting. Dave enjoyed working on race cars, fishing and boating and spending time at his cabin at Vepco Lake at Mount Storm.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday, September 26th from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Danny Arbogast and Pastor Keith Miller officiating.
Interment will follow in the Beverly Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, MD, 20814 in memory of Dave.
