Carl Thompson, 76, of Circleville, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 23, 1927, in Simoda, a son of the late Jason “Buzz” and Sadie Simmons Thompson.

On Aug. 2, 1952, he married Joan Nelson, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Harper, Elkins, and Debra Ann Dolly, Petersburg; two sons, Carl Thomas Thompson and Douglas Glen Thompson, both of Circleville; one sister, Mona O’Rouke, Springfield, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Gifford; and one sister, Bertha Estep.

Mr. Thompson retired from Howes Leather Co. in Bartow. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II and the Korean War.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6862, American Legion. He was a member of Circleville Presbyterian Church.

Family will receive friends at Circleville Presbyterian Church Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the church Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Cox officiating. Interment will follow in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial donations may be made to Circleville Presbyterian Church in care of Jane Wilkins. Basagic Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
