Carolyn J. Stewart, age 69 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Thursday morning October 11, 2012 in the Davis Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. Her death was sudden and unexpected. She was born August 4, 1943 in Elkins a daughter of the late Emery O. and Beulah Shreve Stewart. She had never married. She is survived by one brother, Charles Stewart and wife Thelma of Beverly and one sister, Patricia Swecker of Kingwood. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Junior and Bud Stewart and three sisters, Louise Mallow, Ruth Corley, and Mildred Triplett. Carolyn served in the United States Army and later retired from the United States Navy. She was a member of the H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and a Protestant by faith.

Friends may call from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Richard L. Chambers officiating . Interment will follow in the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded at the gravesite by the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program, H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangement s for Carolyn J. Stewart.
